Honda PH recalls over 19,000 units for window problem

Following the announcement on Monday that some of Honda’s Jazz, City and CR-V models had a faulty power window master switch assembly, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) began sending letters of notice on Tuesday to owners of models included in the recall.The company said that 19,143 units of Jazz (2005-2007), City (2006-2008) and CR-V (2005-2006) had to have faulty window switch with countermeasure parts."The silicon component commonly found in air fresheners or automotive cleaning agents, etc. enters into the power window master switch. This accelerates wear in the contact area and over time, wear particles accumulate between the power source and ground of the unit switch. The resin material of the unit switch is then heated and carbonized. This may cause smoke and in worst case, partial burning of the window switch cover," HCPI explained in its press statement.It said that the replacement of affected parts will be carried out in 28 authorized dealers and three service centers nationwide, free of charge and will take no more than 30 minutes.Though there are still no accidents or injuries reported related to this defect, Honda's local arm said the voluntary recall is part of its safety measures.HCPI also assured that owners of Jazz, City and CR-V models not included in the list, as well as those who own Civic, Accord, Pilot, Odyssey and HR-V, are not affected and have no reason to worry.

Hyundai i40 revealed ahead Geneva Motor Show unveiling

Hyundai has published first pictures and inside informations of the i40 before its Geneva Motor Show unveiling. As a wagon edition, the i40 is Hyundai's first jab at the D-segment in Europe.

Fundamentally a European version of the Sonata in the U.S., the i40 has been redesigned on the outside to specialize the continent-wide models. Yet, the i40 has been produced specifically for the European market, with a bundle of powertrains, equipment and technology custom-built for European orientations. Market launching is anticipated to commence soon after its Geneva launching with the sedan following later in the year.

On the external Hyundai has given the i40 its 'fluidic sculpture' innovation language which can be identified by its hexagonal grille flanked by two jewel-like headlamps along with the glaring characterful lines that flow from front to rear.

Uniques features include heated and leaning front and rear seats; a fervent steering wheel; and an active de-mist system that automatically detects and clears mist on the windscreen.

Under the hood the i40 has a 1.7-litre diesel engine which emits just 113 g/km of CO2 emissions – a best-in-class figure according to Hyundai.

Also following the i40 in Geneva are the Curb concept and 1+2 Veloster both of which had their world premieres at the North American International Auto Show last month.

The 2011 Kia Sorento SX was introduced at 2010 NEW YORK AUTO SHOW.

On sale since January, the 2011 Sorento crossover is the first Kia built at the Korean company’s new factory in West Point, Ga. The Sorento SX now occupies the position as the top trim level.

According to Kia Motors, the 2011 Sorento is the best-selling vehicle in the company’s lineup.

With four new vehicles to talk about, Kia had plenty to say during its news conference at the New York auto show. Additional “surprises” promised in the near future most likely include a hybrid version of the Sorento. Kia displayed a diesel-powered Sorento hybrid at last year’s Frankfurt auto show, but didn’t bring up the subject in New York.

The Sorento SX is powered by a 276 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine, coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and available with 2- or 4-wheel drive. A slightly lower ride height, 18-inch wheels and Dual Flow Damper shock absorbers are standard. Inside are plenty of luxury touches, like leather seats, a premium Infinity sound system, back-up camera, navigation and Kia’s new UVO infotainment system.

Already off to a strong start since going on sale in January, the Sorento SX arrives in showrooms this summer. Pricing will be revealed closer to the on-sale date. The base Sorento starts at $19,995, while the current range-topper, the Sorento EX, fitted with optional all-wheel drive, costs $28,895.

The Sorento SX adds an extra dash of style and luxury to Kia’s popular new crossover.

Ford introduced their new 2011 Mustang a few weeks ago in Detroit. The new 2011 Ford Mustang GT is the Official Pace Car at this year’s 52nd Daytona 500.

Ford also announced that they will be building 50 replicas of the car, but the actual pace car has been auctioned off for charity at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. All proceeds from the auction are to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research.

The 2011 Mustang GT, powered by the all-new 5.0-liter V-8 engine, officially starts the race on Feb. 14 at Daytona International Speedway.
